Sentinel for Dogs - Heartworm, Flea and Worm Treatment

Sentinel flavor tablets for dogs are tasty chews to be given once a month for preventing heartworm diseases, treat intestinal parasites like roundworms and inhibit flea infestations in dogs. The beaf-flavored tablets are highly effective in inhibiting heartworm infections and keep dogs safe from fatal diseases. This oral treatment is to administer and needs to be given all year around.

Manufactured by Novartis, Sentinel flavor tablets are an effective oral treatment for preventing heartworm infections. It also treats a broad spectrum internal and external parasites including whipworms, hookworms, roundworms and fleas. By killing the intermediate stages of the flea life cycle, it prevents re-infestations.

Lufenuron, the active ingredient is an Insect Development Inhibitor (IDI), which blocks the reproduction of parasites like fleas and thus reduces chances of re-infestations. It is given as a single mealtime dose and remains effective for a span of 30 days. Easy to administer, this oral treatment is a treat for the pets and is safe for 8 weeks and older puppies, dogs and pregnant females.

Get your pet checked for an existing heartworm infection. He/She should not be infected at the time of starting Sentinel flavor tablets.

Sentinel is available in four different color-coded packs depending on the size and weight of the dog. Weigh your pet and choose the suitable pack.

The oral treatment is given after single bedtime meal once a month. Beef flavored tablets are loved by dogs and they take it as a treat. Otherwise mix with the meal and make sure the pet finishes the entire dosage.

Repeat every month, if possible then on the same date. Breeding and pregnant females should be given the tablets at mating time, prior to whelping and then every month.

Dosage:

• Before starting the medication, have your veterinarian confirm, by a simple test, that your dog does not have heartworm as some mild, transient, shock-like reactions have occurred when treating heartworm positive dogs.

• In some cases, adverse reactions like vomiting, diarrhea, depression/lethargy or pruritus have been reported.

• Contact your veterinarian if any unusual signs develop in your dog after treatment.
